My History:
– About Me…
My name is Simon Hayes. I was born in London but have spent most of my life in South Africa, attending Saxonwold Primary School and Parktown Boys’ High School before matriculating at Damelin College – in the days when Damelin College was in the Jhb city centre.
I obtained a BSc at Wits in biological sciences. (I wanted to be a vet but didn’t get in to Onderstepoort so thought zoology and botany the next best thing.) Most of my friends continued their studies and obtained a teaching diploma, so I joined them after realising one’s options are limited with a degree in zoology and botany.
After a brief spell in the SADF (luckily FW reduced the term whilst I was in there) I ended up teaching at various high schools. I soon realised teaching was not my true passion, so I started studying law through Unisa, completing my LLB degree in 1994.
